History
Translated to English Steki means `a place where people meet habitually`. Two brothers who lived in Greece had the amazing idea of opening a Greek Taverna in Portsmouth in 1998. After a lot of consideration they named it “Steki” thinking that this is a place where people can have a relaxed and informal meal with friends and family. They run the family business with great success for 8 years having customers from all over England but their dream was to open another STEKI. Eight years later, on September 2006 one of the brothers with his family left to Brighton to run the business there where the other remained in Portsmouth to continue the family business.
On 27th of July 2009 Portsmouth Taverna had a terrible fire incident and had to remain closed for nearly a year in order to be rebuilt. But…Steki is back again with a rejuvenated menu that respects the Greek authentic Cuisine hosted in a new Relaxed and Traditional Greek Environment, where you can feel the warmth of Greece and the friendliness and Greek hospitality.
Our wondrous Greek food on offer is prepared with gusto, our boasting dishes including Meze, Moussaka and Kleftiko as well as a variety of Fresh Fish and Barbecue dishes will blow your taste buds!
